Beyond the Tapping - BMSA
by Dr. Joaquín Andrade, Lic. Florencia Navatta
This book is about the ultra-fast body-mind technique, an improved scientific version of "tapping", based on solid clinical and neuroscientific grounds. BMSA can be included in any therapeutic strategy for non pharmacological treatment of anxiety disorders, deactivation of open emotional conflicts and the somatic consequences of psychic trauma.
The generic name “tapping” defines several dozens of treatment strategies for anxiety disorders, such as phobias, panic attacks, generalized anxiety disorder, anticipatory anxiety, PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), etc., that use light repeated percussions (tapping) with the fingertips, on the so-called “acupuncture points”, along (supposed) “acupuncture meridians”, while keeping the target problem in the mind.
BMSA, or Brief Multi Sensory Activation is the heir of classical “tapping”. Born from the contrasting review that the authors made about “”tapping” techniques in light of neuroscience, whose unprecedent progress in the last 20 years, made possible to scientifically explain why classic “tapping” works, which of its components are most effective and which are useless or ineffective, and what is most important, these neuroscientific foundations give BMSA a strong predictive value, continuously improving and adding new technical elements.
This process of revision and scientific verification allowed us to rule out many useless or ineffective maneuvers, while keeping other valuable ones, and, most important, to design and incorporate new procedures, maneuvers and different techniques aside percussions, which are much more effective than the previous ones, but also have a faster response... sometimes surprisingly instantaneous.
BMSA can be applied by the doctor or psychologist in the office, or anywhere (we have applied it inside a car, in a flight, in a boat, in the streets…) and it’s an ideal technique, because of its simplicity, harmlessness, amazing speed and profound results.
It can be learned by anyone and applied
