From Nostradamus to Homer Simpson
by Dr. Joaquín Andrade, Lic. Florencia Navatta
Before, sometimes long before, the worst tragedies, catastrophes, disasters, and chaotic calamities suffered by humanity, individuals of the most diverse ages, occupations, cultural levels, and social positions, experienced mysterious premonitions about the future event, some, very vague perhaps feeling hunches, but others, extremely detailed predictions, about the adversity that was going to occur in the immediate or delayed future.
Predictions of tragic events are the most widespread, but if you ask different people, they will describe "hunches", "my heart was overturned", "I saw clearly what was going to happen", "I felt a voice", "I had a dream", "I woke up abruptly in the night", and other colloquial names for the very strong feeling that "something is going to happen".
The clearly non-rational nature of these predictions and the impossibility of conventional science to explain them (they do not fall within the materialistic paradigm) has meant that science have denied them.
The arrogance and lack of humility of this denial, implies that "what I cannot measure and explain" or "what does not fall within conventional materialistic science" does not exist...
These predictions have been recorded as expressions of futurology, based on more or less rational prognoses, such as the cases of academics, organizations and personalities who warned about a viral pandemic and the inadequacy of health systems to cope with it...even in the most developed countries.
Or, as intuitions, registered with surprising similarity to the future disaster, in books, movies, television series... by writers, common people, some mystics... and, sacred texts of some religions...
Throughout the book, we ask ourselves if it is possible to predict future events, we mention confirmed cases, outline possible neuro-scientific explanations, and analyze the possible ways in which the prediction can be facilitated.
Chapter 1st examines the concept of time, past, present, and future, and the possibilit
